Self-contained Classroom, Grades 2-5
Location: near Yorktown, Virginia
Employment Type: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week

Position Overview: Soliant Education is excited to offer a full-time position for a dedicated Special Education Teacher in the Yorktown, Virginia area. This role is focused on supporting a middle school ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) classroom with a manageable caseload and dedicated classroom support. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with students with ASD and committed to creating an inclusive and effective learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with two paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Create and maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting instruction as needed to achieve educational goals.
  • Work closely with parents, school staff, and other professionals to coordinate and enhance student support.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational and behavioral strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Virginia Teaching Certification with an endorsement in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom paraprofessionals and manage a supportive learning environment.
