Position: Part Time Program Manager (Henrico County, VA)

Right At School provides local school districts before and after school extended day programs with a focus on disguised learning activities and daily enrichment dedicated to the success of all students. Right At School's mission emphasizes a commitment to inspire a love of learning

Program Manager Pay Rate: $20-$23 (based on education and experience)

This position will begin with the 2026‑2027 academic school year; qualified candidates will not begin work until August 2026.

Monday through Friday 1:45 PM – 6:00 PM (hours may vary based on assigned location)

Responsibilities
  • Safety & Joy: Exhibit role model qualities ensuring safety and joy standards are met by supporting a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities to a team of staff members; support operational efficiency by keeping site documents and licensing standards up to date; outline attendance protocols, behavior policies, safety procedures, and ensure program tasks are completed effectively; provide continual coaching and foster respectful relationships among staff to address challenges promptly to maintain team cohesion and productivity.
  • Safety Assurance: Consistently support and report on safety protocols to ensure the well‑being of all participants; identify and submit proof of MMR.
Qualifications
  • 18 + years of age (Virginia requires 21 + years).
  • Proof of High School diploma / GED required.
  • Experience with working among competing priorities and delivering quality service to all stakeholders.
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of unique and special needs.
  • Coursework or training in child development and/or related fields.
  • Communication skills; oral, written, and visual with adults and children.
  • Ability to model professional standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community.
  • Familiarity with Google technology software or willingness to learn.
  • First Aid and CPR – in‑person.
  • Cleared tuberculosis test.
  • Virginia requirements (choose one):
  • Graduate degree in a child‑related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation and six months of programmatic experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a child‑related field and one year of programmatic experience.
  • Forty‑eight semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit of which 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours are in child‑related subjects and one year of programmatic experience.
  • Two years of programmatic experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity and at least one of the following education backgrounds:
    • A one‑year early childhood certificate from a college or university that consists of at least 30 semester hours.
    • A child development credential that requires:
      • high school program completion or the equivalent;
      • 480 hours working with children in a group including a supervised practicum;
      • determination of competency in promoting children’s development, providing a safe and healthy environment, managing the classroom environment and/or childhood program, and promoting positive and productive relationships with parents/guardians;
      • at least 120 clock hours of child‑related training taught by an individual or organization with expertise in early childhood teacher preparation that includes documentation of mastery and application in a classroom setting; at least six years of education leading to a degree or credential in a child‑related field or programmatic experience; and at least 12 semester hours or 180 clock hours in a child‑related field and two years of programmatic experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity;
      • a certification of qualification from an internationally or nationally recognized Montessori organization.
