Role: 9‑month Instructor – Faculty of Electronics

Location: Laurel Ridge Community College
Responsibilities- Deliver high‑quality, hands‑on instruction in electronics, electrical systems, and related technologies.
- Teach foundational concepts and applied skills to prepare students for entry‑level careers in the electronics industry.
- Develop and assess coursework covering electronic principles, workplace safety, DC/AC circuit analysis, electronic components, diagnostics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electronic devices and applications, and system‑level troubleshooting.
- Create a positive, caring, and dynamic learning environment that promotes student success, diversity, and community engagement.
- Support the College and School of Professional and Technical Studies goals and adhere to Virginia Community College System policies and procedures.
- May be required to teach days, evenings, and/or weekends as needed.
- May be required to teach at multiple sites.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned, including assisting during emergencies.
- Travel as required to sites within the college service region and for training purposes.
- Minimum of five years of occupational experience in electronics and a high school diploma.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to present instructional material clearly and accessibly.
- Effective collaboration skills with diverse groups of students and colleagues.
- Proficiency or willingness to gain proficiency in one or more of the following technical fields: aviation, drones, robotics/automation, artificial intelligence, data science, information technology.
- Associate or Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
- Experience in industrial electrical, mechanical systems, automation, PLCs, robotics, or related fields.
- Teaching experience in secondary education, higher education, adult education, or corporate training environments.
- Industry certifications (e.g., Journeyman or Master Electrician, Journeyman or Master Machinist, robotics or instrumentation, OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, Allen‑Bradley, NC3, NCCER, SACA, FANUC/NOCTI, Siemens PLC, or other credentials).
Salary range: $54,386 to $117,180 per year, commensurate with education and/or experience. 9‑month faculty role eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia and Virginia Community College System.
