What the Instructional Assistant does:

The Instructional Assistant coordinates with and assists Special Education Teacher in providing an appropriate program for each student. Additionally, they coordinate with and assist the teacher in the following:

Classroom organization

Classroom behavioral management

Preparing educational materials and tutoring

Assists in teaching classes, under teacher’s supervision.

Functions as a substitute teacher in their classroom, as necessary and assigned, on a time-limited basis.

Works one-on-one with students as directed by administration.

Maintains students’ weekly point sheets electronically.

Maintains logs of all student behaviors that require a classroom removal.

Completes action reports or serious incident reports within 24 hours of an incident or by the end of the day of the incident depending on specific deadlines.

Completes annual paraprofessional ASD and related disability trainings.

What the Instructional Assistant brings to the team:

Bachelor’s Degree in fields such as Education or related field, preferred.

Experience in special needs school environment, preferred.

Experience working with children in a learning/school environment
