Position: Adjunct Math Faculty (Part-Time); PreCalculus II

Adjunct Math Faculty (Part-Time);
Pre Calculus II

We are seeking a part‑time adjunct faculty member to teach Pre Calculus II (MTH 162) at Southside Virginia Community College. The course is a Passport and UCGS transfer course covering trigonometry and its applications.

Course Content &

Specific Duties
  • Trigonometric functions
  • Analytic trigonometry
  • Applications of trigonometry
  • Conics
  • Develop and maintain high‑quality course materials aligned with college standards and learning outcomes
  • Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and departments as needed
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams
  • Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments
  • Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success
  • Teaching experience at the college level, both face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities
  • Competency with instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas LMS
  • Experience working with community college students
  • Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success
