Position: Program Manager (Hanover, VA)

Program Manager

Right At School provides local school districts with before and after school extended‑day programs focused on disguised learning activities and daily enrichment dedicated to the success of all students.

Program

Hours:

Monday through Friday 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Hours may vary based on assigned location)

Pay: $20.00–$23.00 per hour (based on education and experience)

Responsibilities
  • Organize program materials for lessons and activities, and document attendance, incidents, and other observations.
  • Deliver the dynamic daily curriculum to engage children in academic and social character‑building, expanding school‑day learning in a meaningful way.
  • Model positive guidance and effective classroom management to maintain safety, well‑being, and attention of all children while supporting homework completion, leading fun fitness activities, and guiding children at play.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and school personnel.
  • Meet regularly with the Program Manager regarding professional progress and team accountability.
  • Maintain operational efficiency by keeping site documents and licensing standards up to date, outlining attendance protocols, behavior policies, and safety procedures.
  • Support and report on safety protocols to ensure the well‑being of all participants.
  • Assist in coaching staff to foster respectful relationships and address challenges promptly, maintaining team cohesion and productivity.
  • Identify and submit proof of MMR vaccination and other required health documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all state‑specific requirements, including First Aid, CPR, TB test, and mandated reporter training.
  • Promote positive and productive relationships with parents/guardians and the local community.
Qualifications
  • Outstanding customer service and relationship‑building skills.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 years of age.
  • College credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Commitment to inspiring a love of learning and healthy living.
  • Ability to meet state‑specific requirements; CPR, mandated reporter training, TB test, etc.
  • Employment requires at least 18 years of age; for Virginia, 21 years or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required;
    Bachelor’s or equivalent qualifications in a child‑related field may be substituted for additional programmatic experience.
  • Experience with competing priorities and delivering quality service to all stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Google technologies or willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in documenting student check‑ins and check‑outs, maintaining accurate attendance records.

Virginia State Requirements
  • First Aid and CPR (in‑person).
  • TB test clearance.
  • 21 years or older.
  • Graduate degree in a child‑related field with six months of programmatic experience.
  • OR bachelor’s degree in a child‑related field with one year of programmatic experience.
  • OR 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit with 12 semester hours in child‑related subjects and one year of programmatic experience.
  • OR two years of programmatic experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity and at least one of the following: a) one‑year early childhood certificate (30 semester hours); b) child development credential with required hours and competency demonstrations; or c) certification from a recognized Montessori organization.
  • The above qualifications must be accompanied by a clean background check and compliance with all licensing and safety standards.
