Performs instructional leadership duties to support teachers and staff in the integration of technology, curriculum, and assessment practices that enhance student achievement. Serves as a collaborative partner with school administrators and instructional staff to design and implement engaging, inclusive, and technology-enhanced learning experiences. Central to this role is the support of instructional practices, student assessment systems, and professional learning to improve outcomes for all students.
Essential Functions- Meets and collaborates with teachers, administrators, and staff at designated times and locations
- Supports the development and implementation of the School Innovation and Improvement Plan (SIIP)
- Assists in creating instructional environments that are conducive to effective, technology-enhanced learning
- Prepares and delivers professional learning and instructional support as requested by administration
- Integrates the use of technology to enhance curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices
- Maintains current knowledge of instructional strategies, assessment practices, and educational technology
- Encourages and supports high standards of instructional practice and student engagement
Provides an effective instructional support program to include:
- Utilizes a variety of instructional coaching strategies including modeling, co-teaching, and feedback cycles
- Demonstrates knowledge of instructional best practices, student development, and adult learning theory
- Utilizes materials and resources aligned with curriculum standards and division initiatives
- Demonstrates mastery of instructional technology tools, systems, and integration strategies
- Supports teachers in implementing safe and effective use of instructional technology and digital tools
- Assists in documenting and analyzing student performance data to inform instructional decisions
- Maintains and upholds school policies, procedures, and instructional expectations
- Maintains records of professional learning, coaching cycles, and instructional support services
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and professional learning communities
- Assists in the selection and implementation of instructional materials and technology resources
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships with staff and stakeholders
- Performs related duties as assigned by administration
- Supports the administration of state and local assessments, including SOL and credential-based testing
- Assists with preparation and management of testing environments, including device readiness and software functionality
- Provides training to staff on digital testing platforms, procedures, and accommodations
- Collaborates with administration to ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Education testing requirements
- Provides real-time technical and instructional support during testing windows
- Assists in analyzing assessment data to support instructional planning and student achievement
Thorough knowledge of instructional technology, curriculum design, and assessment practices. Strong understanding of instructional coaching and adult learning. Ability to support a collaborative and innovative learning environment.
Education and Experience- Valid Virginia teaching license required or eligibility for a Virginia provisional teaching license with demonstrated experience in business, industry, or a related field focused on developing talent, cultivating learners, and designing impactful learning experiences
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience preferred or comparable professional experience in training, coaching, instructional design, or workforce development
- Experience in instructional technology integration and professional development preferred
Duties performed in school settings include classrooms, offices, and collaborative work spaces. Frequent interaction with staff and students is required.
