Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team at Locust Grove Middle as a full‑time Social Studies teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore historical events, cultural diversity, and civic responsibilities, fostering critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world. This role requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and achievement.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines in social studies.
- Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their learning.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Foster critical thinking and analytical skills by encouraging students to engage in discussions and debates on historical and contemporary issues.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends in social studies education.
- Contribute to school activities, events, and committees as needed to support the school community.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Social Studies for middle school level or willing to obtain.
- Strong knowledge of social studies content, including history, geography, economics, and civics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Experience in classroom management and creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Proficiency in using technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for teaching.
