Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team at Locust Grove Middle as a full‑time Social Studies teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore historical events, cultural diversity, and civic responsibilities, fostering critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world. This role requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and achievement.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines in social studies.
  • Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their learning.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Foster critical thinking and analytical skills by encouraging students to engage in discussions and debates on historical and contemporary issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress, behavior, and any concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends in social studies education.
  • Contribute to school activities, events, and committees as needed to support the school community.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Social Studies for middle school level or willing to obtain.
  • Strong knowledge of social studies content, including history, geography, economics, and civics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Experience in classroom management and creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in using technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for teaching.
