Information Technology Adjunct (Summer and Fall 2026)
Germanna Community College is a two‑year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and surrounding counties.
Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning, delivering, and assessing courses in Information Technology to students from a variety of academic backgrounds. The position involves teaching both in‑person and online courses.
Key Responsibilities- Teach specific course(s) in Information Technology.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to Germanna Community College and VCCS policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain current competence in the discipline or field of specialization.
The incumbent must provide quality instruction, meet assigned classes regularly, submit required records and reports routinely, teach prescribed courses of study with established texts, and adhere to professional ethics standards set forth by the College.
Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned. May assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in Information Technology.
- Strong ability to teach in classrooms and online.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in instructional technology.
- Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Work experience in the field.
Experience with online teaching. - Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and development of online courses in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution.
Teaching load is up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters and/or up to 8 credit hours during the summer session. Salaries are commensurate with rank and credentials. The adjunct faculty contract does not guarantee continued employment.
Location & TravelThe position is located in Virginia. Applicants must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate. Travel to all campus locations may be expected.
