Computer Science Adjunct (Summer and Fall 2026)
The Germanna Community College is a two‑year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System, serving students in the City of Fredericksburg and surrounding counties. The College seeks an adjunct faculty member to effectively plan and teach Computer Science courses, both in‑person and online, for up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer sessions.
Adjunct faculty are employed on a short‑term contract with no guarantee of continued employment. The position is located in Virginia and requires the instructor to reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to ensure consistent, reliable attendance.
- Teach designated Computer Science courses in both in‑person and online settings.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain accurate records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to the policies, procedures, and regulations of Germanna Community College and the Virginia Community College System.
- Maintain current competence in the discipline or field of specialization.
- Teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters and/or up to 8 credit hours during the summer session, based on enrollment and staffing needs.
Provide quality instruction by meeting assigned classes regularly, submitting required records and reports routinely, teaching the prescribed courses of study with the established texts, and adhering to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.
Qualifications- Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in Computer Science.
- Ability to effectively teach in classrooms and online.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with instructional technology.
- Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Work experience in the field.
- Experience with online teaching.
- Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned and to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
CompensationSalary is commensurate with rank and credentials.
