This position is for the school year and involves providing engaging, project‑based lessons that incorporate the 6C’s of an infinite learner: communicator, collaborator, critical thinker, connector, creator, and citizen to students K‑5 in a resource class across multiple content areas (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics).
Job Description Essential Job Functions- Collaborate with teachers to review and develop STEAM curriculum materials and instructional plans to integrate appropriate STEAM lessons aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning and the Standards for Technological Literacy.
- Provide direct support to the classroom teacher by coaching and modeling effective integration of STEAM lessons.
- Collaborate with building‑level administration, building staff, Science/Math Lead Teachers and district Level Science/Math/Art Curriculum Specialists to develop and implement programs, events and instructional practices that increase STEAM experiences for all students.
- Provide building‑level support to teachers and paraprofessionals, increasing their content knowledge in STEAM education and teaching new instructional strategies through consultations and lesson modeling.
- Assist with the review and identification of quality instructional materials and pedagogical best practices, and provide staff development opportunities in STEAM.
- Monitor documentation and records regarding STEAM integration and learning.
- Collect and use data to make instructional decisions related to curriculum and instruction; monitor and assess curriculum, instruction and program effectiveness; recommend and implement improvements based on ongoing analysis of data.
- Serve as a leading member of the school‑based STEAM Committee. Coordinate school‑based STEAM student teams in preparation for the annual CCPS STEAMmania event.
- Visit classrooms for teaching support and consultation; monitor STEAM instructional programs, collect and analyze data on the effect of STEAM integration on student content knowledge and problem‑solving ability.
- Deliver STEAM‑oriented instruction through Project Based Learning methods.
- Attend professional development and training related to STEAM programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research.
- Maintain an inventory of materials to support the collection and organization of supplies necessary for teaching in a STEAM setting.
- Adhere to policies and regulations outlined in federal and state laws and School Board Policies and Procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsible for the management of budget for designated programs and provide recommendations to the building principal for items that support STEAM teaching and learning.
Equipment OperationOperates personal computer, basic office equipment and equipment related to program instruction (Canvas, Google Apps, coding platforms, Promethean Boards, Active Inspire, 3D printers, Spheros, Dash, Ozobots).

Work Direction/SupervisionSets direction and collaborates with all levels of CCPS personnel and outside agencies.
Decision MakingPerforms majority of functions independently.
Physical DemandsMust be able to sit and stand for extended periods, use a telephone, enter data into a computer terminal, read a computer screen and printed material with or without aids, hear, understand, and speak clearly. Requires manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 25 lbs., bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
Work EnvironmentWorks in a public school or office environment; noise level is quiet to moderate.
