Join Southside Virginia Community College in preparing future human services professionals through HMS 225:
Functional Family Intervention. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of functions and dysfunctions within the family unit. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC’s mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community.
Applications will be received, reviewed, and considered continuously until needed positions are filled.
Responsibilities- Provide students with a foundational understanding of both healthy functions and common dysfunctions within the family system.
- Emphasize the development of effective clinical and support skills using an interpersonal and interactional approach to family intervention.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high-quality course materials align with college standards and learning outcomes.
- Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for the online portion of the course.
- Participate in professional activities and support student success through active engagement and mentorship.
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success.
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
- Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
- Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face-to-face and online/hybrid modalities.
- Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience working with community college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
