Position Title
Tutor and/or Embedded Tutor

Employment TypePart-time (wage), 29 hours or less per week.
PurposeTutors help students improve their academic performance and achieve their educational goals by offering guidance and support in subject areas such as mathematics, biological sciences, business, physical sciences, and technologies. They assist students in developing study skills, time‑management strategies, and other techniques that contribute to academic success.
Duties and Responsibilities- Work with students individually or in groups to facilitate understanding of complex concepts.
- Offer guidance on assignments, projects, and homework.
- Help students prioritize tasks, prepare for exams, and set attainable goals.
- Serve as embedded tutor for Math 154 (Quantitative Reasoning) and Math 161 (Precalculus), supporting assigned classes for 7 to 15 weeks and connecting students to tutoring services.
- Model good student behavior and host review sessions.
- Passion for assisting others, excellent communication and active listening skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to work with diverse populations and a strong sense of responsibility, dependability, honesty, and maturity.
- Outstanding academic achievement in the subject area(s) to tutor.
- Has sought tutoring in their own academic work.
Monday–Thursday 9:00 AM–7:00 PM;
Friday 9:00 AM–2:00 PM. Maximum 29 hours per week.
