Job Description

Library Evening Access Services Coordinator – Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU).

This role supports library operations by delivering high‑quality customer service and ensuring access to library resources, services, and facilities during evening and weekend hours. The coordinator will be a key member of the Access Services team, providing direct assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors while maintaining responsibility for library operations during designated shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide frontline service at library desks, assisting constituents with access to library collections, resources, and services.
  • Manage circulation of library materials and equipment, including check‑out, check‑in, and reservation functions using the Alma Library Services Platform.
  • Oversee library operations during assigned evening shifts, including facility closing procedures on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • Serve as the primary staff member in charge of library operations during Saturdays and coordinate facility closing procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to facility, operational, and safety‑related concerns.
  • Assist with the supervision, training, scheduling, and evaluation of student assistants, and supervise evening student staff.
  • Support daily operations of the Access Services unit and coordinate facility‑related requests with Facilities Management, Safety, and Custodial Services.
  • Participate in the Library Marketing Committee and contribute to outreach and promotional initiatives.
  • Coordinate the use of course reserves services, maintain usage statistics, and communicate with faculty and staff.
  • Maintain departmental documentation, policies, procedures, and student employee resources.
  • Promote a safe, secure, and welcoming library environment in liaison with Safety, Facilities Management, and Custodial Services.
  • Support library outreach, marketing, strategic initiatives, and special projects.
Qualifications
  • High school (or GED) level education; 1–3 years of library‑related experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience providing public service in a library or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of library services platforms (Alma LSP), library operations, Library of Congress classification system, and safety & emergency preparedness procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and library technology (computers, printers, scanners, loanable devices).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a high‑interruption environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate student assistants; 1 year of supervisory experience required.
  • Adaptability, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills; ability to resolve conflicts collaboratively.
