Overview
Provides specialized academic instruction to students with learning and other disabilities in the school year. Plans, delivers, and evaluates instruction based on standards, objectives, and Individualized Educational Plans (IEP). Works in compliance with IDEA, Federal regulations, and Chesterfield County Public Schools guidelines.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver appropriate curriculum content to students.
- Plan, teach, and assess writing.
- Assess student learning on an ongoing basis and adjust instruction to meet group or individual needs.
- Use the district curriculum to plan daily instructional activities.
- Maintain classroom order in accordance with division behavior management guidelines.
- Supervise students during non‑classroom times (before school, after school, activities, fire drills).
- Collaborate with other faculty in planning and delivering instruction.
- Communicate regularly with parents.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local statutes and policies related to public schools.
- Demonstrate commitment to improving professional competence.
- Perform other duties as established by School Board Policy and as needed.
- Understanding of instructional concepts, principles, and methodologies.
- Knowledge of academic curriculum for assigned classes.
- Ability to develop instructional goals, design and deliver instruction, and assess student learning.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Decision‑making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationship, and planning skills.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Current or eligible Virginia teaching license with endorsement in an exceptional education area.
- Submit undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial acceptable).
- Provide two references; type varies with experience level.
- Provide a copy of teaching license.
Job Requirements
- Successfully complete FBI Criminal History Investigation, State Police Criminal History Investigation, CPS Investigation, and Tuberculosis Screening/Test.
$55,046.62 – $83,594.34 per year.
