This posting is intended to generate a pool of qualified applicants who wish to be considered for vacancies as they develop for the school year.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESProvide instruction of the three-year industry-based course designed to provide students with the training, knowledge, and comprehensive understanding of aspects of food preparation and service within the context of the hospitality industry. Course objectives will include a focus on performing dining room services, catering, banquet services and production, business skills and operation. Upon completion, students will demonstrate mastery of advanced levels of food preparation.
ESSENTIALDUTIES
- Demonstrates mastery of content area;
- Prepares daily instruction and activities using the division's curriculum to assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisors;
- Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs;
- Develops summative tests of students' learning and uses results for further student instruction, grading, and placement;
- Develops and maintains a favorable psychological and physical environment that is conducive to effective learning;
- Maintains order and encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior within the classroom setting in accordance with division guidelines regarding pupil behavior management;
- Selects and utilizes materials appropriate to the students' instructional levels;
- Organizes learning activities to achieve specific concepts;
- Attends and participates in district level in-service training programs, faculty and department meetings;
- Establishes friendly and cooperative relationships between the home and the school;
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relations with others;
- Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence;
- Respects the home responsibility of parents for their children;
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school division's policies and practices.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Preferred:
Five (5) years successful experience as a Head Chef or equivalent. Catering and/or restaurant experience. Previous teaching experience in similar setting.
Required:
High School Diploma or GED certificate. Must hold or be eligible for a Technical and Professional License.
Hold or be eligible for a Technical and Professional License with a Culinary Arts endorsement.
WORK SCHEDULE10 or 11 Month – 7.25 hrs.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to find, reach, handle equipment, machinery, tools, files, records and equipment; the individual is also required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, push, pull, carry, bend, stoop, and kneel; must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
