Residential Building Codes Inspection Adjunct Instructor
We are seeking a teaching faculty adjunct instructor to teach our Principles of Residential Building Construction Inspections, a course within the Building Construction Management AAS degree. The course, delivered in a 2021 USBC code focused format, introduces students to the criteria and procedures of residential building inspections.
Responsibilities- Teach the Principles of Residential Building Construction Inspections course each evening (6:00 pm – 9:05 pm) in a hybrid format.
- Prepare and deliver lecture materials, assignments, and exams.
- Grade student work and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate course records and comply with university policies.
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned, including assisting the agency or state government during emergencies.
- Associate’s degree or higher in a related field plus 4 years of experience in plans review or inspections for a local jurisdiction.
- ICC certification as a Residential Building Inspector is required; a Master Code Professional (MCP) certification is preferred.
- Experience with learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.) is a plus, though training will be provided.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
- Occupational experience in the field.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
Salary commensurate with education and experience. Position is part-time, hybrid 7‑week course sequence with meeting one evening per week.
