Adjunct Faculty Pool – Physics

Piedmont Virginia Community College is a public, two‑year institution in Central Virginia that serves the city of Charlottesville and surrounding counties. The college offers a range of developmental and college‑level physics courses and seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach and plan instruction.

• Plan and deliver developmental and/or college‑level physics courses in a classroom environment.
• Teach courses both face‑to‑face and remotely, adapting to different instructional formats.
• Develop curriculum materials, assessments, and instructional aids that address diverse student backgrounds and learning styles.
• Participate in department meetings, professional development activities, and any additional duties assigned by the college.
• Assist the agency or state government in emergency situations, when required.

• Master’s degree in Physics or a related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Physics.
• Minimum two years of teaching experience, including online instruction, at the college or university level.
• Demonstrated proficiency in instructional technology and ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
• Strong communication skills and a proven ability to support student success.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with faculty and staff.

• Official transcripts upon hiring.
• References and criminal background checks required.
• Compliance with E‑Verify, I‑9, and other employment verification processes.
