Behavior Technician (Division Wide)

Reports To: Executive Director of Student Services

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Scales:

Salary Scale - N3 or Bachelor's Level Professional Scale/Non-Teaching (200 days/7.5 hours)

Purpose Statement

To work collaboratively with school personnel to support students with challenging behavior. The Behavior Tech works collaboratively and under the guidance of the Board Certified Behavior Analysts, and/or the Director of Student Services, Supervisor of Special Education and school-based administrator to implement, collect data and monitor behavior support plans as assigned. The role of the Behavior Tech is to provide evidence-based interventions, strategies and supports using behavior management techniques and intervention strategies to reduce behaviors that interfere with the learning process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs behavior interventions for general and special education students
  • Assist the BCBA/Behavior Specialist in the development of behavior plans and support the teachers in the implementation of those plans.
  • Assist teachers in the development implementation of appropriate behavioral strategies in the classroom
  • Collaborates with school personnel to promote an educational climate that facilitates student success and academic achievement
  • Provides direct support to students in need of behavioral services.
  • Work directly with students who exhibit inappropriate behaviors and provide support for staff that work with such students.
  • Assist BCBA in conducting assessments and collecting/analyzing data in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
  • Assess student reinforcers and reinforcement strategies
  • Work with classroom teachers and instructional assistants to model effective behavioral and instructional programming.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Other Functions as relevant
  • Implements established classroom behavior management procedures
  • Implements reinforcement system or other research based system
  • Implements district safety management training procedures as prescribed
  • Assists teacher with development of staff/student training materials
  • Participate in meetings as necessary
  • Assists in implementation of activities of daily living programs, including feeding and toileting as needed
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Possess ability to establish rapport and work constructively with staff, students, parents, and administration.
  • Requires the ability to display knowledge of principles and practices of general child behavior intervention techniques.
  • Possess the ability to provide sensitive service to students who display emotional or behavioral challenges.
  • Possess leadership qualities and effective organization skills.
  • Possess an understanding of various disabilities and best practices for working with such students.
Qualifications /

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in the area of psychology, education, social work, counseling, mental health or related fields. Other educational levels will be considered depending on experience and other relevant training.
  • Minimum of two years experience in a related field preferred
  • Requires the ability to display knowledge of principles and practices of general child behavior intervention techniques.
  • Demonstrate the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
