Adjunct Instructor – Agriculture & Hospitality

Piedmont Virginia Community College’s Workforce Services division is seeking adjunct instructors to support a wide range of workforce training, lifelong learning, and credential programs in the agriculture and hospitality industries. Candidates will deliver didactic and skills instruction across topics such as horticulture, beekeeping, landscape design, viticulture, enology, brewing, distilling, food and wine pairing, and cannabis cultivation.

• Deliver effective didactic and skills instruction to adult learner audiences, maintaining a positive and safe learning environment.
• Adhere to institutional policies and procedures; serve as a role model and advocate for student success.
• Hold review, remediation, and office hour sessions as needed; maintain participation and performance records.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to inquiries from students, staff, and partners.
• Report incidents and comply with incident reporting procedures.
• Participate in professional development and partner onboarding requirements.
• Maintain professional competence, certifications, and licensure.
• Assist in student recruitment activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned and support the agency or state government during emergency declarations.

• At least two (2) years of occupational experience in the proposed teaching area.
• Combination of education and industry credentials demonstrating content expertise.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to a community college philosophy and student success.
• Experience teaching adult learners and/or in a community college setting.
• Experience using Canvas or a similar learning management system.
• Current CPR or first aid certification.

• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
• May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
