This position is a full‑time, 12‑month, term faculty Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at Virginia Commonwealth University. The role is funded by the Child Health Research Institute with a commitment for 4 years. The successful candidate will develop an externally‑funded research program that collaborates with investigators advancing CHRI priorities and seeks sustainable extramural funding.
Duties & Responsibilities- Collaborate across disciplines to support basic, translational, quality improvement, and clinical projects.
- Communicate statistical concepts effectively to non‑statistical audiences, acting as a “statistical clinician.”
- Deliver ad‑hoc presentations to the CHRI research community, including faculty development seminars and retreats.
- Generate collaborative publications tied to intra‑ and extramural funding.
- Commit 5 % of time to serve on departmental, school, or university committees and professional activities.

Qualifications- Awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Track record in research areas listed above, demonstrated through peer‑reviewed publications, presentations, and grant applications.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, STATA, Python) and complex statistical analysis on collaborative projects.
- Experience working in collaborative, multidisciplinary research and strong oral & written communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with faculty, staff, and students.
