Sociology Adjunct (Fall 2026)
Role
Title:
Sociology Adjunct – Part‑time, exempt faculty position at Germanna Community College.
This adjunct faculty member will teach sociology courses both in‑person and online, up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters or 8 credit hours in the summer session.
Duties and Tasks- Teach specific classes in sociology.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to GCC and VCCS policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain current competence in sociology.
Provide quality instruction, meet assigned classes regularly, submit required records and reports, teach courses with established texts, and uphold professional ethics.
Qualifications- Master's Degree in Sociology with at least 18 graduate semester hours.
- Ability to effectively teach in classrooms and online.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in instructional technology and willingness to learn AI tools.
- Prior teaching experience and experience teaching online courses at a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
- Experience developing online courses in synchronous and asynchronous formats.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Experience working in the field of sociology.
