Admissions Outreach Coordinator
Plans and executes outreach and recruitment activities for Northern Virginia Community College, primarily within the college’s service area including high schools and surrounding communities. Works under the Associate Director of Outreach and Recruitment, builds strong relationships with prospective students, and participates in recruitment events.
Work ScheduleMonday–Friday 8:30 am–5:00 pm with occasional weekends and evenings.
TeleworkTelework options are subject to change based on business needs.
Responsibilities- Assists prospective applicants on the admissions process, academic programs, and opportunities at the College in-person, virtually, via e‑mail communication, and phone.
- Coordinates on‑campus (in‑person & virtual) and off‑campus events and programs targeted toward prospective students, parents, school counselors, adult learners, and community members.
- Coordinates ongoing strategic communications to prospective students and other key populations, maintains a prospect management system and a record of all outreach and recruitment activities.
- Works closely with departments across the College and organizations within the community.
- Collects data and produces reports.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned and may assist the agency or state government in emergency situations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA)- Ability to travel within the service area for recruitment purposes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to problem‑solve in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues with a diverse student population.
- Ability to oversee the work of student employees and volunteers.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to speak publicly.
- Possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience coordinating and facilitating workshops in K‑12 or postsecondary education settings.
- Computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software tools.
- Customer service experience with the ability to handle stressful situations.
- A valid driver’s license with the ability to travel throughout the service area.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work on different campus locations when needed.
- Experience with technology tools used in higher education systems.
- Data management and analytical experience.
- Experience in sales, recruitment, admissions counseling, academic advising, or marketing.
