Job DescriptionThis adjunct faculty position is available in the discipline of Legal Administration. Teaching may include a variety of formats including face-to-face and online. Adjunct faculty may teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters, and up to 8 credit hours during the summer session. Teaching load depends on student enrollment and college needs. The contract contains no expectation or guarantee of continued employment.
Dutiesand Tasks
- Teach specific classes in the designated discipline in a classroom/virtual environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials, delivering high-quality instruction, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and actively contributing to the academic, professional, and community life of the college.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of MECC while emphasizing instructional excellence through innovative teaching practices, curriculum development, and assessment.
- Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization, committing to continuous professional growth aligned with the college's mission and goals.
As part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate's degree or higher in the discipline plus two or more years of directly related experience, especially as a paralegal.
- Must demonstrate ability to deliver coursework electronically in an online environment and utilizing multiple teaching strategies as well as in‑person instruction.
- Has a thorough understanding of the varied backgrounds and experiences of student populations and the ability to create a sense of belonging, support, and engagement that considers and values all students in curriculum development and teaching.
- Proficiency in using computers, relevant software applications, and the institution’s learning management system (LMS) is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or higher.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into instruction.
