Adjunct Faculty – Humanities and Social Science
Laurel Ridge Community College is hiring adjunct, part‑time faculty to teach day, evening and weekend classes across its Middletown, Fauquier, and Luray‑Page County locations or online. Faculty will be appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester‑by‑semester basis.
Responsibilities- Teach college‑level courses in Humanities and Social Science subjects, including Arts, Education, English, Economics, History, Psychology, Philosophy, Spanish, Speech/Drama, and Sociology.
- Deliver course content through in‑person, hybrid, or distance‑learning formats.
- Develop and update syllabi, learning materials, and assessment tools in alignment with program requirements.
- Use instructional technology and learning management systems to facilitate student engagement.
- Provide timely student feedback, maintain accurate record keeping, and participate in faculty meetings and professional development as required.
- Adhere to the college’s policies on academic integrity, student confidentiality, and safety.
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the specific teaching discipline.
- Minimum of one year of recent college‑level teaching experience (preferred).
- History of successful teaching or related educational experience.
- Proficiency in instructional technology and online/ hybrid teaching platforms.
- Resident of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia.
- Pay is calculated per credit hour and will commensurate with education and relevant teaching experience.
- Position is part‑time and not eligible for health or leave benefits.
- Eligible for educational benefits through the college’s professional development and educational assistance policies.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation and other pre‑employment screening processes is required.
