Job Overview
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Philosophy Adjunct Faculty member is responsible for providing high‑quality instruction that supports student learning and success. Responsibilities include developing and delivering engaging course content, maintaining accurate and compliant course syllabi, assessing student learning outcomes, providing timely feedback, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Adjunct faculty are expected to utilize effective instructional methods and technology, remain current in their academic discipline and teaching practices, communicate promptly with students, and support institutional goals through participation in required meetings and other assigned responsibilities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student achievement, instructional excellence, and continuous improvement.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications- A master’s degree in the teaching field or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field. Qualifying academic degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and inclusive teaching practices
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience teaching in the discipline, especially at the college level
- Experience teaching in in‑person, hybrid, and online formats.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
- Familiarity with learning management systems
Travel among Reynolds campuses and partner sites may be needed.
