Adjunct Math Faculty; Part-Time - PreCalculus

Overview

Adjunct Math Faculty (Part-Time) – Pre Calculus I. This is a Part-Time Faculty position with no state and VCCS benefits. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Applications must be submitted online with a resume and all transcripts of college work completed.

• Prepare students for advanced mathematics by exploring the foundational principles of Pre Calculus I (MTH 161).
• Develop and maintain high-quality course materials aligned with college standards and learning outcomes.
• Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies; maintain accurate records and communicate with students and necessary departments to support academic success.
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned; may assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration.

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
• Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments; ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
• Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.

• Teaching experience at the college level, including face-to-face and online/hybrid modalities.
• Competency with instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas LMS.
• Experience working with community college students and a demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
