Adjunct Business Statistics Faculty (Part-Time)
The position is a fall 2026 hybrid teaching role for one or more sections of BUS 224:
Business Statistics. The course is offered on the Christanna campus, Tuesdays, 1:00 PM – 2:25 PM. The role is appointment-based per semester and does not qualify for state or VCCS benefits.
- Teach data presentation, descriptive statistics, and basic probability concepts.
- Cover discrete and continuous probability distributions, the Central Limit Theorem, and estimation and sampling distributions.
- Instruct students on decision theory, simple linear regression, and hypothesis testing for single samples or populations.
- Guide students in using spreadsheet software as a primary tool for statistical problem‑solving.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high‑quality course materials align with college standards.
- Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System for the online portion of the course.
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success.
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related Business field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
- Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
- Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
- Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas Learning Management System.
- Experience working with community college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
