Inspire students to connect mathematical theory with practical application through Pre Calculus II. Join Southside Virginia Community College in preparing students for advanced mathematical success through MTH 162:
Pre Calculus II. This is a Passport and UCGS transfer course that presents trigonometry and its various applications. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC’s mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Pre Calculus II (MTH 162) online/faculty courses.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality course materials aligned with college standards and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain engagement through Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies.
  • Use instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas LMS.

  • Applications of trigonometry
  • Conics
  • Deliver course using online/hybrid modalities.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write syllabi and exams, develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
  • Experience working with community college students and engaging students of varied abilities.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
Additional Considerations
  • Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
  • Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
