Physics Adjunct (Summer and Fall 2026)
Germanna Community College is a two‑year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. It serves the communities of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania, and Stafford. Adjunct faculty are responsible for effectively planning and teaching physics courses both in‑person and online. Adjuncts may teach up to 12 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters and up to 8 credit hours during the summer session.
The position is located in Virginia. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to maintain consistent attendance.
Duties and Tasks- Teach specific physics classes.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to GCC and VCCS policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain current competence in physics or related field.
Faculty members are expected to meet assigned classes regularly, submit required records and reports, teach prescribed courses with established texts, and uphold professional ethics in accordance with College policies.
Qualifications- Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in physics.
- Ability to teach effectively in classroom and online settings.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in instructional technology.
- Experience or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Work experience in the field.
- Experience with online teaching.
- Substantial, proven experience developing online courses in synchronous and asynchronous environments at a regionally accredited institution.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned, and to assist the agency or state government during emergency declarations by the Governor.

SalaryHourly rate ranges from $961 to $1,997 per credit hour, with final determination based on academic credentials and occupational experience.
