Adjunct Business, Principles of Management Instructor
Southside Virginia Community College offers a Part‑Time Faculty position for the course BUS 200:
Principles of Management for the Fall 2026 semester (August 17 - December 15, 2026). The position is hybrid, with in‑person instruction on the Christanna Campus (Alberta, VA, Mondays, 1:00 PM – 2:25 PM) and online components.
- Teach the fundamental management functions: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
- Apply management principles to realistic situations managers encounter in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high‑quality course materials that align with college standards.
- Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for the online portion of the course.
- Participate in professional activities and support student success through active engagement.
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and relevant departments.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Management or a related Business field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
- Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
- Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
- Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas LMS.
- Experience working with community college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
Hiring range $793.00 - $1098.00 per credit, depending on qualifying rank.
