Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Assistant to join our team at Locust Grove Middle. This full‑time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting student learning and enhancing the educational experience. The Instructional Assistant will work closely with teachers and staff to facilitate a positive and productive learning environment for students, providing assistance in both academic and behavioral settings.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in the delivery of instructional materials and lesson plans to enhance student learning.
- Support students in small group and one‑on‑one settings, adapting instruction to meet individual needs.
- Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers regarding student performance and behavior.
- Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources, ensuring that they are readily available for use.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement strategies for student success.
- Provide supervision during lunch, recess, and other non‑classroom activities to ensure student safety and engagement.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and knowledge.
- Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) as directed.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff to promote a supportive school community.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers and administrators.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning and development.
- Basic proficiency in technology and willingness to learn new educational tools and software.
- Knowledge of child development and effective instructional strategies is a plus.
- Must pass background checks and comply with all school district policies and procedures.
- Availability to work full‑time, including potential evenings or weekends as needed for school events.
