Prepare students for advanced mathematics by exploring the foundational principles of Pre Calculus I. Join Southside Virginia Community College in preparing students for advanced mathematical success through MTH 161:
Pre Calculus I. This is a Passport and UCGS transfer course that presents foundational mathematical functions and systems.

• Relations and functions
• Polynomial and rational functions
• Exponential and logarithmic functions
• Systems of equations
• Develop and maintain high-quality course materials aligned with college standards and learning outcomes
• Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
• Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams
• Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments
  
  Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds
• Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success

• Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face-to-face and online/hybrid modalities
• Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
• Experience working with community college students
• Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success
