Job DutiesTo provide effective Career and Technical instruction in the assigned trade area; to assist assigned students to complete the required competencies for that trade area; demonstrate effective classroom or lab management; ensure that the lab is operated in compliance with all aspects of safety management; and to maintain accurate and current students records for the assigned student.
Minimum Qualifications- The ability to engage students in one-on-one teaching and work with students and inmate aides in a classroom/Lab environment.
- The ability to maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge and experience of policy and procedure governing adult education.
- Must possess working knowledge of basic adult education field, adult literacy, and computer software appropriate for program needs.
- Experience in maintaining classroom, equipment, and inventories.
- Demonstrate competency in the related field of current trade licensure.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Must have at least two years' full time or 2000 hours of verifiable experience in the last 5 years in the relevant field/trade area for a teaching certificate. - License:
Must be eligible for a Technical Professional License issued by DPOR and license/certification or a Technical Professional License in the related trade area/field issued by DPOR. Must be eligible for a teaching certificate by the Department of Education. - Provisional license documentation submission within first 90 days of employment; obtaining provisional license within one-year probationary period is employee’s responsibility and required for continuing employment at DOC.
- Experience in correctional education classroom management.
- Five years experience in the related trade/field.
- Knowledge of all phases of the trade area; ability to supervise adult inmates in a classroom/lab environment in a correctional facility.
- Knowledge and experience in correctional education classroom management.
- The ability to facilitate other instructors.
- Knowledge of the Department of Corrections (DOC) institutional policies and procedures and policies governing correctional education.
