General Overview
Plans, delivers and evaluates instruction based upon specific standards and objectives established by CCPS. Assists students in learning knowledge and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible citizens.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver appropriate curriculum content to students.
- Teach and assess, using the district curriculum for daily instructional activities.
- Assess student learning on an ongoing basis and adapt instruction to meet group or individual needs.
- Maintain classroom order in accordance with division guidelines for behavior management.
- Supervise students during non‑classroom time (before school, after school, student activities, fire drills).
- Collaborate with faculty to plan and deliver instruction.
- Communicate regularly with parents.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local statutes and policies related to public schools.
- Demonstrate commitment to professional competency improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The role requires regular use of hands to lift, support and handle objects, occasional standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, and the ability to reach, talk and hear. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception and focus adjustment.
QualificationsRequired:
Knowledge of instruction concepts, principles and methodologies; general academic curriculum knowledge for assigned classes; ability to develop instructional goals and deliver instruction; assess student learning; communicate orally and in writing; decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships and planning skills.
Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Middle Ed 6‑8:
English or English 6‑12. Eligibility includes completion of a state‑approved teacher preparation program in English, a bachelor’s degree with a passing Praxis exam in English 5038, a bachelor’s degree specific to English, or a valid out‑of‑state license with a comparable endorsement.
Successful completion of FBI Criminal History Investigation, State Police Criminal History Investigation, CPS Investigation and Tuberculosis Screening/Test is required.
Compensation and HoursSalary range: $57,226.69 – $87,774.05.
Hours:
8 days per week, 200 days per year.
