Job Description
Principal at Amelia/Nottoway Technical Center (ANTC) located in Jetersville, Virginia. The principal is responsible for the administration and supervision of a high‑school technical center and its programs.
Education and Experience- Must hold a valid Postgraduate Professional license with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision.
- Must have three to five years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience (Career and Technical Education experience preferred).
- A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
- Advise and inform the Superintendents and the Amelia‑Nottoway Technical Center Joint Board on all matters involving career and technical education programs, including recommendations for adding or discontinuing classes offered.
- Provide for the continuing development and implementation of an effective instructional program through classroom supervision and instructional leadership.
- Ensure all CTE requirements are met for all programs.
- Establish and maintain a handbook and policies approved by the Joint Board.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and handle discipline in collaboration with each student’s base school.
- Serve as the instructional leader of the school, using data to achieve high academic performance for all students.
- Analyze and interpret data to determine instructional focus, ensuring enrichment and remediation services for all students.
- Create and support a positive school climate and culture that maximizes learning and professional growth.
- Provide leadership and direct the work of teachers and support staff.
- Collaborate with Division directors on CTE curriculum development based on current trends and state guidelines.
- Communicate and coordinate implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines with all school staff.
- Prepare regular reports for the Joint Board, Superintendents, and central office directors, as well as for boards of supervisors and potential partners.
- Prepare and submit on‑time verification and required reports to the Virginia Department of Education.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff, establishing improvement plans in line with Joint Board policies.
- Provide ongoing professional development to staff in line with ANTC vision and mission.
- Interpret Joint Board policies and procedures for parents and the public.
- Work collaboratively with staff and community to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state statutes, policies, and guidelines for public schools and for students with disabilities.
- Coordinate staffing needs with Human Resources, recommend changes, and participate in recruitment and assignments.
- Prepare budget recommendations and monitor school and activity fund status throughout the year.
- Foster effective school‑community relations and facilitate community use of the school facility as authorized.
- Collaborate with discipline officers to analyze student conduct data and resolve discipline issues.
- Assess student learning continuously and guide teachers to adjust instruction as needed.
- Ensure students take certification exams.
- Plan and oversee student registration, scheduling, orientation, and development of course offerings and master schedule.
- Collaborate with other administrators to provide horizontal and vertical articulation of the instructional program.
- Encourage parent‑teacher communication and community involvement in school activities.
- Maintain proper facility maintenance and accurate bookkeeping of school funds.
- Stay current with developments in secondary education and technical education through professional growth.
- Communicate effectively in writing and orally, coordinating with all supervisory levels.
- Manage state equipment, Carl Perkins, and other local, state, and federal grant programs.
- Coordinate all aspects of the Piedmont Alternative School (PAS) Alternative Education grant and program.
- Conduct needs assessments to increase enrollment and programming.
