POSITION TITLE:

VOCATIONAL TEACHER ASSISTANT - 188 DAY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/REQUIREMENTS:
An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work on site.

7.0 hours/day

For the Explore and Project SEARCH programs, this position supports student interns within community and business host sites. Responsibilities focus on workplace readiness skill development, on-site job coaching, and supporting students in achieving competitive integrated employment outcomes.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is paraprofessional work which requires the teacher assistant to assist the classroom teacher in providing full-time and individualized instruction to students whose first language is not English. This position assists in a variety of tasks and helps carry out instructional procedures as directed by the classroom teacher. This position performs work under the direct supervision of the teacher, building administrator, and E.S.L. supervisor.

This position is paraprofessional work that requires the teacher assistant to assist the classroom teacher in performing a variety of tasks after training, i.e., emergency plans, health-related plans/services, and carrying out instructional procedures. This position performs work at the direction of the teacher, building administrator, and appropriate Special Education Department administrator. The employee must interact with students, parents, and staff in a positive manner.
