Job DutiesThe Fiber Optics Teacher is responsible for providing quality instruction that meets the needs of the student in the trade areas of basic adult education and GED standards. Additionally, to meet the standards defined under the Commonwealth’s statutes and program certification requirements.
Minimum QualificationsThe ability to engage students in one-on-one teaching and work with students and inmate aides in a classroom/Lab environment. The ability to maintain accurate records;
Knowledge and experience of policy and procedure governing adult education. Must possess working knowledge of basic adult education field, adult literacy, and computer software appropriate for program needs. Experience in maintaining classroom, equipment, and inventories;
Demonstrate competency in the related field of current trade licensure.
Knowledge of all phases of the trade area; ability to supervise adult in-mates in a classroom/lab environment in a correctional facility. Knowledge and experience in correctional education classroom management. The ability to facilitate other instructors; knowledge of the DOC institutional policies and procedures and policies governing correctional education. Experience and knowledge in Fiber Optics and/or education, and/or corrections and/or related field.
Successful experience in fiber optics, corrections or related field. Experience in correctional education classroom management will be preferred. Five years experience in the related trade/field. License:
Must have a Industrial/Technical Professional License/Certification in the relevant trade area/field. Must have a teaching certificate by the Department of Education.
