It includes faculty in MIS, Operations Management, and Business Analytics disciplines, with several having multidisciplinary interests. Our faculty conducts managerially relevant research using a diverse set of methodologies.
The ISOM Area faculty have published regularly in premier journals, including Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production & Operations Management, Strategic Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, as well as many other top journals. Our faculty members have won coveted University and Professional Society awards for their research and teaching. Many of our faculty serve on editorial boards of leading journals, and all are active professionally in their respective fields.
The Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) Tenure-Line Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS) will start Fall 2027. This is a full-time position with benefits. MIS faculty are part of the ISOM area, one of the six areas of the College of Business. Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
Responsibilities- Major responsibilities include conducting high-quality research and teaching MIS courses in undergraduate and graduate programs.
- The teaching load for this position is determined according to the College’s workload policy, which specifies an initial load of 9 credits (this typically translates to 3 courses/year) for tenure-track assistant professor candidates and highly productive researchers.
- Additional responsibilities include service to the ISOM Area, the College of Business, the University, and the profession, such as student mentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the business community.
- Earned Ph.D. in MIS or closely related field or be ABD with a documented expectation of degree completion before the start of Fall 2027;
- Evidence of effective teaching or the potential to effectively teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
- Evidence of a strong research trajectory with the potential for publications in top-tier academic journals; and
- Good citizenship in terms of service is critical, as is the ability to work well with colleagues.
- Fewer than two years since PhD conferral; and
- Alignment of research interests with current MIS faculty.
