RCC seeks applicants for our Embedded Tutor opening. This is a part-time position without benefits working approximately 15 hours/week at a pay rate of $15 per hour.
Under the direction of the Coordinator of Learning Resources, the Embedded Tutor provides in-person and virtual tutoring services for designated course sections to support student success. Embedded within the classroom, this tutor provides accurate explanations and examples to clarify course concepts. The incumbent uses a variety of auditory, visual, and interactive approaches to support student learning. Examples of tutoring assistance include using a whiteboard to review the solution to a difficult math problem, discussing study guide questions, and adding comments to a shared document.
In addition to providing in-person tutoring assistance during class time, the Embedded Tutor position schedules and holds both in-person and virtual tutoring sessions outside of class time. This role completes required training to build tutoring skills, communicates regularly with course instructors, participates in documenting and assessing tutoring activity, and follows the guidelines of the Embedded Tutoring program.
The Embedded Tutor comes prepared to all course sessions and meets with the Coordinator of Learning Resources to review performance and receive feedback for improvement. The Embedded Tutor maintains courteous, caring, and professional communications with students, faculty, and college employees. This position maintains student privacy at all times.

- Completion with an A or B grade for the course(s) in which the Embedded Tutor is assigned.
- Demonstrated competence in the course to be tutored.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Embedded tutors must be able to attend assigned course or lab sessions and provide tutoring support outside class hours as scheduled.
