What You'll DoPosition Overview
The Co-Director / Assistant Director plays an essential leadership role in the successful day-to‑day operation of the center. This individual works closely with the Center Director and leadership team to ensure that our children receive exceptional care, our teachers are supported and developed, our families feel valued, and our center consistently maintains the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
The Co-Director / Assistant Director will assist with overseeing and managing:
- Daily center operations and classroom activities
- Staff supervision, coaching, training, and professional development
- Staff scheduling and maintaining appropriate classroom coverage and ratios
- Curriculum planning and implementation
- Orientation and onboarding of new employees
- Student enrollment and family onboarding
- Classroom observations and supervision of instructional quality
- Maintaining positive, professional relationships with parents, children, and staff
- Maintaining accurate records and required documentation
- Ensuring the center remains in
100% compliance with Virginia licensing requirements and state standards at all times - Supporting a safe, nurturing, organized, inclusive, and positive environment throughout the center
- Assisting the Center Director with additional operational and leadership responsibilities as needed
Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
- An early childhood professional credential, such as a
Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
, certification in Early Childhood Education, or a
Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field - At least2 hours of management or leadership training
- At least
two years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role - At least
two years of experience as a classroom teacher - Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- A genuine passion for working with children, families, and early childhood educators
- The ability to lead by example and contribute to a positive, supportive team culture
- A commitment to inclusion and meeting the individual needs of every child
- The ability and qualifications necessary to
drive the center's childcare van
