Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals for the role of SOL Tutor. As a part of our team, you will play a vital role in providing personalized academic support to students in need. In this role, you will collaborate closely with teachers and instructional coaches to address individual student needs. You will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on students' lives as you help them develop a strong academic foundation.

Essential Functions:

With the support of the classroom teacher and instructional coaches,

• provide high-intensity tutoring to students in reading and math
• implement effective teaching strategies and techniques to ensure maximum engagement and learning outcomes for the students (lesson plans provided)
• use instructional technology to monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing feedback and guidance to help students improve their academic performance
• maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and assessments, ensuring confidentiality and privacy of sensitive information
• participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills as a high-intensity tutor

Education and Experience:

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• At least one year of experience working in a similar capacity and/or with school-aged children.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Enrollment or completion of an accredited education program
• Recent or current experience as a classroom teacher

Special Requirements:

• Tutors hired to support within a Title I school must meet the requirements to obtain designation of highly qualified which include:
  • Complete two years of study at an institution of higher education;
  • Obtain an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
  • Meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing, readiness, and mathematics readiness).

Terms:

This position is classified as anas hourly support role. The schedule for this position will be considered part-time and structured on an hourly, as needed basis. This position is evaluated annually.
