Electrician – CHP Plant (Portsmouth, VA)

Ameresco seeks an experienced Electrician to maintain and troubleshoot a combined heat and power (CHP) plant – consisting of gas turbine generators with HRSGs, a steam turbine, package boilers, and associated balance‑of‑plant equipment – operating 24/7/365.

• Perform troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and preventive maintenance on digital and analog control systems, plant instrumentation, and low‑ and medium‑voltage equipment.
• Install, repair and maintain plant equipment, including power plant equipment, lighting systems, AC and DC motors.
• Assess power generation controls, steam turbine/generators, and combustion turbine/generators.
• Maintain accurate preventive maintenance schedules and calibration data on instrumentation, control systems and electrical equipment.
• Monitor, install and repair steam and combustion turbine generator components.
• Maintain and repair HRSG, fuel, combustion and safety management system devices and equipment.
• Assist contractors with specialized turbine, boiler and auxiliary systems testing.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and maintain electronic systems.
• Perform preliminary assessment on pumps, fans, burners, air compressors, motors, valves and electrical equipment.
• Ensure safe operation by adhering to industry safety protocols, preparing job‑specific hazard analyses, and complying with environmental permits.
• Maintain contractual compliance with OEM maintenance recommendations.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of the Preventive Maintenance Program using the Ameresco Asset Management Software System Asset Planner©.
• Be on call for emergencies 24/7/365 and travel as required.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in industrial plant maintenance.
• Proven management experience supervising maintenance personnel.
• Strong work ethic, leadership, and communication skills.
• Solid computer skills – proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to work in varied environmental conditions.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license in good standing issued by state of residence.
• Ability to complete position training and testing requirements.
• May need eligibility to review DoD Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and to obtain a DoD Non‑Escort Access Badge.

Hourly rate: $33.65–$48.80 per hour (gross). Benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and eligibility for performance incentives. Salary may vary by location.
