Position: BIM Technician (Mid-Atlantic) Virginia

The BIM Technician is responsible for designing technical drawings and creating solutions and designs for construction projects. The BIM Technician is mission-oriented, goal-driven, highly organized, and detail-oriented. S/he will possess strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, and exercise good judgment and decision-making skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mark-ups of PDF and/or DWG files for as-built record keeping received from field crew notes, sketches, redlines, and/or 3rd party surveyors.
  • Participate in BIM review sessions, using Navisworks or Revit.
  • Assist with the review of drawings for errors and omissions.
  • Convert 2D AutoCAD drawings or Revit files to Civil 3D drawings, assign elevations to points, lines, and structures, and import that information to the GPS survey equipment.
  • Provide necessary drawing files and information to 3rd party surveyors.
  • Take notes and sketches from project team and make drawings showing issues and/or proposed changes for submittal to client.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications and Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in the underground utility design or construction markets, including underground electrical/civil, telecommunications, sewer/water, and fiber/electrical conduit work.
  • AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D experience required.
  • Experience with civil or architectural drawings required.
  • Experience with REVIT required.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat or Blue Beam Revu required, with the ability to review and mark up drawings and take measurements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy of information.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel; estimating and scheduling software skills preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ability to take initiative, work well under pressure, and work independently or under executive direction.
