Responsibilities
  • Experienced Marine Engineer with extensive knowledge of ship systems and machinery to assist with projects and provide valuable industrial and operational insights. Responsible for providing support to vessel design at the vessel-specific level and program level in the areas of safety systems and risk reduction and management for shipboard systems with a focus on mission systems. Applies knowledge of mechanics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical systems to these activities.

    Maintains working knowledge and familiarity with customer specifications, manuals, and procedures in areas of safety and risk reduction, and applies understanding of these areas to new vessel design spiral and in-service vessel lifecycle support. Works closely with other disciplines to review specifications, study, analyze, and finalize modifications and develop manuals, briefs, calculation reports, and specifications for guidance and implementation.
  • CACI is seeking a Naval Architect/Marine engineer to work with a dynamic team of ship Marine/ Mechanical/ Electrical/ Structural engineers and Naval Architects. You will provide technical, and program support on various engineering projects alone and as part of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC).
What You’ll Get To Do
  • Provide Systems engineering support for in-service and new vessel design.
  • Provide support to shipboard engineering systems.
  • Work with stakeholders.
  • Use, maintain, and improve document authoring and drafting practices and tools to develop reports, manuals, and drawings with high efficiency and accuracy.
  • Design and develop fluid systems using design software such as PipeFLO and spreadsheet calculations.
  • Design and develop interfaces between ship systems and new equipment.
  • Author and develop design reports to accompany in-service modifications to ship systems.
  • Develop advanced proficiency in 2D drafting practices to improve in-service modification
Qualifications
  • BSME in Marine Engineering
  • Hands-on experience working with ship machinery and systems
  • Ability to write concise reports and specifications in English with minimal oversight in MS Word making use of features such as styles, fields, and references.
  • Proven track record in ship design, modification, or maintenance projects
  • Ability to interface with team members, technical leads, and Project Managers
  • Ability to review and apply US Navy and/or US commercial ship design requirements, including DOD acquisition, system safety, and testing processes
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work alone on individual projects with minimal supervision and with other Engineering Disciplines on a team.
  • Good verbal (English) communication skills
  • Willingness to travel ≤10% of the time
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Ability to Obtain a Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with shipboard systems specific to AS Class vessels, including maintenance, integration, or operational support
  • Experience as a Port Engineer, with demonstrated expertise in overseeing vessel readiness, coordinating repairs, and managing technical operations
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk reduction strategies for shipboard systems, with emphasis on propulsion, power generation, and mission-critical equipment.
  • Provide technical support for in-service vessels throughout their lifecycle, leveraging past industrial and operational experience to solve complex engineering challenges
  • Shipboard and/or shipyard design, operation, or repair experience
  • Engineering and Technical Authority (E&TA) Familiarization training
  • Apply working knowledge of maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry standards to ensure compliance
