G&E Partners have partnered with a heavy civil contractor seeking out Senior Project Managers to be a part of large-scale heavy highway and bridge projects across VA and nearby states. The ideal individual would be based out of Virginia and is open to occasional travel. All applications are confidential.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee multidisciplinary project teams by ensuring clear communication, coordination, and follow-through to achieve defined project objectives. Projects span both engineering design and construction execution
, with involvement from early planning, bidding, and conceptual phases through construction, start-up, commissioning, and final handover. - Define and implement project-specific procedures that align with contract requirements and quality standards. Maintain responsibility for project schedules, budgets, and overall control processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, construction partners, subcontractors, and suppliers, representing the project during kickoff meetings, site visits, progress reviews, and related communications.
- Ensure team members are trained on project requirements and verify adherence to established procedures and compliance standards.
- Review, document, and obtain authorization for any modifications affecting project scope, cost, or schedule.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients and proactively adjust plans or deliverables as needed to meet client expectations while honoring contractual obligations and company objectives.
- Verify that all engineering and construction deliverables comply with industry best practices, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers to support professional growth and team development.
- Apply advanced knowledge of engineering principles and project management practices to monitor progress, control costs, and meet project milestones.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year institution (any engineering discipline).
- Prior experience serving as a Project Manager in heavy civil construction is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience managing engineering and construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, manage complex schedules, and deliver projects within budget constraints.
- Proficiency with project management and administrative software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
.
- Maintain consistent and dependable attendance.
- Meet deadlines while producing high-quality work.
- Communicate professionally and collaborate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, clients, and external partners.
- Perform all duties safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Follow written and verbal instructions, including safety signage and equipment guidelines.
- Work standard business hours and be available for overtime or weekend work as project demands require.
- Ability to work at various job sites, with working conditions that may change depending on location.
