Job Overview:

The ideal candidate will create accurate 3D models of underground infrastructure systems including telecommunications duct banks, electrical duct banks, manholes, and wet utilities using Civil 3D and Revit platforms. Must be highly organized and detailed oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities at one time.

Responsibilities:

The BIM Modeler plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of our projects. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

3D Modeling & Design
  • Develop accurate and detailed 3D models of underground utility systems from 2D engineering drawings and survey data.
  • Create duct bank layouts, configurations, and infrastructure models.
  • Model manholes, pull boxes, vaults, and other underground structures.
  • Generate machine control export files for field construction guidance.
BIM Coordination
  • Coordinate BIM requirements between general contractors, trades, and engineering teams.
  • Perform clash detection and resolve conflicts between underground utilities as well as building foundation systems.
  • Maintain model accuracy and adherence to project BIM execution plans.
  • Participate in coordination meetings, model reviews, and monitor RFI and Submittal responses to understand any impact on our work.
  • Link civil grading models with structural and architectural plans.
Documentation & Data Management
  • Create construction documentation including plan/profile sheets and detail drawings.
  • Develop and maintain project templates and standard processes.
  • Ensure proper data structure and file naming conventions.
  • Track revisions and maintain model version control.
  • Develop workflows to streamline PDF-to-CAD conversion processes.
  • Process survey data and convert formats for Civil 3D import (PNEZD, point files).
  • Build feature lines and surfaces from field data.
  • Identify conflicts and implement effective problem-solving strategies to minimize disruptions to schedules and revenue.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
    Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D (corridors, alignments, profiles).
  • Working knowledge of Revit for MEP systems as well as conduit routing.
  • Understanding of survey data formats and coordinate systems.
  • Experience with underground utility construction and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of trenchless construction methods and construction sequencing.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings and specifications.
  • 1+ years of BIM modeling experience in civil or underground utilities.
  • Experience with duct bank installations and utility infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for telecommunications and underground construction.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass federal background check.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed to complete project responsibilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

  • Autodesk Revit (required)
  • AutoCAD
  • Navisworks
  • ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud)
Data Management & Processing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (required)
  • Microsoft Excel (data extraction and processing)
  • Bluebeam Revu (PDF markup and takeoffs)
  • Experience with Bid2

    Win, ViewPoint, Smart Sheet, Procore, and Helix desired
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction projects, including walking on uneven surfaces, working at heights, and climbing ladders or stairs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed to complete the tasks of this position.
