Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Engineer to integrate into the quality processes on mission‑critical data center construction projects. The QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for implementing and enforcing project‑specific quality control programs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, owner requirements, and regulatory codes. This role is critical in delivering high‑performance data centers with reliability, efficiency, and uptime at the forefront.

Quality Planning & Program Management
  • Implement the project QA/QC plan that aligns with corporate quality standards and client specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with Tier III/Tier IV data center requirements, local codes, and industry standards (ASHRAE, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, ISO).
  • Establish inspection and testing procedures for all trades, with emphasis on mechanical, electrical, and low‑voltage systems.
Oversight of Construction Activities
  • Ensure accuracy of critical path installations such as chilled water piping, bus ducts, switch gear, UPS systems, batteries, CRAC/CRAH units, and fire suppression.
  • Review contractor submittals and material certifications for compliance prior to installation.
  • Ensure that all field inspections for quality are conducted timely and that feedback of deficient work is communicated in a way that allows for work corrections while maintaining the construction schedule.
Field Inspections & Quality Verification
  • Perform daily inspections of civil, structural, architectural, and MEP installations in the field.
  • Confirm that work meets project drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Verify proper installation of mission‑critical systems such as:
    • Electrical: switch gear, UPS systems, generators, bus ducts, grounding, batteries.
    • Mechanical: chilled water piping, CRAC/CRAH units, pumps, cooling towers.
    • Life Safety/Controls: fire suppression systems, BMS, low‑voltage cabling.
  • Witness testing and inspections conducted by subcontractors and third parties.
  • Identify, document, and track deficiencies or non‑conformances.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain QA/QC logs, inspection reports, and deficiency punch lists using project controls software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, BIM 360).
  • Track and verify corrective actions for non‑conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Provide weekly quality reports and participate in owner/contractor quality meetings.
  • Interface with superintendents, subcontractors, and engineers to resolve quality concerns.
  • Participate in daily/weekly quality and coordination meetings.
  • Support commissioning activities by verifying system readiness prior to formal testing.
  • Communicate effectively with project leadership regarding quality issues and corrective actions.
Commissioning & Turnover
  • Support integrated systems testing (IST) and commissioning of MEP and IT systems.
  • Verify testing protocols for power redundancy (N+1, 2N, 3N/2) and cooling systems.
  • Ensure all quality documentation is compiled for final closeout and turnover to operations.
Qualifications Experience
  • Minimum 5–10 years of QA/QC experience, with at least 3 years in mission‑critical/data center construction.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, high‑voltage distribution, and critical cooling infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, BIM 360, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and mission‑critical testing protocols.
  • Experience with owner/operator data centers (hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise).
  • Working knowledge of Uptime Institute standards and LEED certification processes.
