This opportunity entails supporting rail projects in technical specialty areas such as positive train control, track/crossing design, track geometry, communications, signaling, and traction power system at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). The position will be based at HNTB and WMATA field offices in Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, Virginia.
Responsibilities- Develop project scope and fee quotation and assist in preparation of technical proposals and contracts.
- Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and client satisfaction.
- Lead client contract scoping and negotiations.
- Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
- Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.
- Lead development and execution of the project management plan and supervise and mentor the team to overall project objectives.
- Oversee project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, succession, and performance and compensation reviews.
- Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects.
- Prepare proposal and presentation materials, lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic, mini-mega or mega projects, and general industry and community presentations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 12 years of relevant experience.
- 4 years of successful management of engineering projects.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions based on site field conditions.
- Extensive track inspection experience and data collection analysis.
- Experience inspecting or working on an FRA Class 4 railroad or higher.
- Experience working on railroad right of way and test train environment.
- Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) qualified or capable of receiving training.
- Professional client interaction skills.
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
- 15 years relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- AICP certification.
- PMP certification.
