QBE, LLC is seeking a Chief Engineer Architect in support of the U.S. Navy’s PEO IWS-X initiative, to provide technical leadership for the design, integration, and testing of complex systems, including KVM-based virtualization, system security prototypes, and the F127 Combat System Compute Infrastructure (CI).

This role manages the full systems engineering lifecycle team, defines system architecture, resolves technical issues, and mentors junior staff. Responsibilities also include integrating System Design with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and best practices. The successful candidate can apply strong Foreign Military Sales (FMS) expertise to adapt U.S. system designs for international applications, identifying opportunities to leverage existing solutions while aligning with partner nation requirements.

Interpreted and refined often ambiguous international requirements, translating them into clear engineering direction that balanced cost, capability, and compliance within program constraints. Enabled efficient delivery of high-value, exportable solutions while minimizing rework and maintaining adherence to defined requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead system and network architecture development and manage the full systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements through deployment.
  • Oversee requirements analysis, system design, integration, and testing activities for KVM virtualization and F127 CI.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technical alignment and compliance with program requirements.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure solutions meet performance and compliance standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to the team.
  • Ensure compliance with USG export control laws and regulations, MIL Standards and DoD Instructions.
Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, liberal arts, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have the applicable 8570 / 8140 requirements including certification for IAT Level III.
  • Must be able to commute to the Dahlgren, VA area daily.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, with leadership experience in defense or high-security environments.
  • Expertise in system architecture, design, and integration.
  • Familiarity with networking, architecture, virtualization technologies, system security, and combat system infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with naval IT deployments
Skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a logical approach to complex challenges.
  • Leadership proficiency in systems engineering tools and methodologies (e.g., DOORS, Cameo, MATLAB).
  • Background in naval hardware systems, software development, or security is highly desirable.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic environments and manage competing priorities effectively
  • Active US Government clearance at Secret level or higher
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to commute to the designated onsite work location as required
